Jonah is a horse shifter and has a very bad home life his brother is an abusive homophobic asshat and his stepdad is even worse. His motherI don't even want to start what I think of her.Jonah at 18 asked Cole, the man and half wolf-shifter to give him a job so he could get away from his family, but Cole wanted Jonah so much he didn't want to risk having him around. I really try to sympathize with Cole here, but can't muster any! Anyway Jonah disappears shortly after that conversation, fast forwa [...]

**** Buddy Read with Em and Giorgia **** I have to admit that short little books like this are not usually my thing. I find that with anything less than 200 pages just doesn't have enough depth or back story, for me personally. But I was very pleasantly surprised by this story. I think it's because I was in the mood for something sweet and light, but sexy at the same time, Finding Release was perfect for that. I found that I connected nicely with the main characters, Cole and Jonah. I wanted to [...]

2.5 starsI didn't enjoy this one very muchI kept reading and rolling my eyes.I just couldn't take the dialogue seriously. It seemed fake and overly simplistic.Although Jonah was kind of cute as a stallion.

This story intrigued me for the simple reason that it combined a werewolf and a horse shifter. Such an unlikely combination that I found a little bit hard to accept it just seemed odd. But then again, if I thought a wolf shifter was okay, why not a horse?Anyway, parking the fact I couldn't get over the horse thing, the story was quite enjoyable. Young man (the horse) comes to the older man (the wolf) for help but gets rejected resulting in him experiencing a year of pain. But Cole has a chance t [...]

WOWwhat can I say. This is a prime example of getting my cart in front of my mule. I love gay cowboy stories. I saw the cover and automatically purchased the first four in the series. My bad. This turned out to be, unfortunately, a story about a repressed werewolf and a battered shifter (horse/man). So not what I had hoped for. And, to make matters worse. Its awful. The writing is jumbled and off the track. The characters are two dimensional. The story is trite. The really bad news. I will read th [...]

I found the romance sweet. Once they got together I swooned a few times. It just didn't impress me like other books have. I would give this 3.5 stars for the romance alone. I really liked this couple. :)

Nope. MC is too young and the sex started too quickly.

I bet you saw, as a kid, a very sad and heartbreaking movie with a horse That broken its leg And they had to shoot it and put the horse down. If the horse was the guy of this book I would grab that gun and shoot it myself. And smile doing it. Or I would invite the horse shifter to visit Italy And end up on a dinner table (in Italy horse meat is eat Not by me. I never even try it For me is like "NOOOO POOOR HORSE" feeling so I never try it)I can't say in words how much both protagonists annoyed m [...]

2.5 starsI had high hopes for this one having both shifters and cowboys in it, unfortunately the story just fell flat for me. For me I just couldn't connect with the main characters.

I though t this was going to be a good book, 2 shifters (horse & werewolf) but sadly that was not the case. Cole is a werewolf who wants Jonah so much because he believes him too young. that he turns him away when he pleads for a job. Jonah is a horse shifter who was "locked" into his animal form by his brother. Sold and torturedO Jonah gets over his ordeal way to fast and jumps in bed with Cole. This story just doesn't have a true ring to it for me.

My Review:Shifter storiesI love them, but this is my first horse shifter and I liked the dichotomy between the two men and wolf and how everything about their relationship goes against their animal instincts. But they work. Not only are the animal half's at odd, but the men are too. Jonah is youngy 18 when the story begins and compared to Cole's mid-thirties, Cole doesn't think he has any right to chase after Jonah. No matter how much he wants to. But he pays for that decision when Jonah disappe [...]

3.5 stars This reminded me a lot of The Tin Star, just with the addition of shifters to the plot. I enjoyed this, and I thought the way Jonah and Cole were reintroduced to each other was very interesting (view spoiler)[after being missing for a year, Cole finds Jonah at an abused horse rescue (hide spoiler)]. It was difficult to tell at first if this world was open or closed. There was no indication until pretty far in that the general population knew about shifters, so that could have been a li [...]

Not bad, but very predictable. Gratuitous sex. Blatant set up for next in series. Yawn.

I’ve read this author before as a contemporary mm romance writer. This is a mm paranormal shifter story. I’ll read more from this author.

This was a pretty good read that I did like. Coleman Wilder is a half-breed werewolf. Cole runs a horse farm and is gay in a conservative small Tennessee town. Jonah is desperate to get away form his family they are to judgemental and think shifting is sin so he ask Cole for a job even though he has a crush on him. The book started turning for men because Cole was at odds with his wolf it just felt out of place too me and in the beginning Cole wasn't very likeable too me also. Cole has always ha [...]

Review written for Love Bytes Reviews.I’ve only ever read one other paranormal book that featured a horse shifter so when I saw the blurb and found that Jonah fell into that category, I was immediately interested. The story itself started out interesting enough; you get a general set up for the story where Jonah asks Cole for help but Cole, fearing a loss of control in regards to the younger man, turns him away. Things then move forward a year and you find that Jonah has disappeared and Cole, [...]

Finding Release by Silvia VioletWild R Ranch, Book 13.5 StarsReviewed for heartsonfirereviewsThis is a fairly good shifter story that leaves out the fluff we so often see in this genre. Humans know of their existence and warily live side by side with shifters. The religious roots run deep in the small rural community that they live in and there are mixed feelings about shifters. I really enjoyed both Cole and Jonah. They are two very different people yet they fit well together. Cole is in his ea [...]

2012 Review:Interesting setting, with shifters and half-breeds and religious zealots and everyone knows about the shifters and they’re vastly more animalistic than we usually get in stories of the kind. The narrator is nicely conflicted about his nature and the pull of his animal side. He also is not some super-being, perfect and strong and confident, which makes it all the better and comes as a relief after all the usual stereotypes we get in alphas. He just seems like a man, someone real, not [...]

  • Secretly Reading

FINDING RELEASE is a solid MM romance for fans of the genre looking for the erotic. I'm always leery of MM romance with big age differences since I don't often like the power dynamics involved in such romances. However, this author did a great job of showing how Cole and Jonah's relationship develops. For instance, Cole keeps Jonah safe but it's the young Jonah who shows Cole how to accept his wolf nature. In my opinion, this set up a good relationship where both people contribute to the relatio [...]

  • Barb ~rede-2-read~

This story is about a horse shifter named Jonah who has been "locked" in his shifted form by his anti-gay, religious zealot brother for over a year. Cole Wilder, half-human and half-wolf shifter is shown a damaged horse and the horse immediately responds to him with affection. Since this never happened before and Cole is a sucker for strays, he buys him and takes him home to his ranch. There Jonah, having recognized Cole, shifts back to human and the men immediately fall in love, errr I mean lus [...]

I did like the book but there were some things that did not connect. I wanted to know Cole's history. How did he become a shifter? Was he born that way? Were his parents shifters? Those are the questions I kept asking. Young Jonah knew more about shifters than Cole and how was that when his family, supposedly, didn't embrace their stallion. It just didn't seem like they would have taught him some of the things that he knew. I don't see how this is going to be a series because there were no other [...]

This is a lovely and predictable story about a half-breed werewolf that finds his mate in a very young horse shifter.Cole rejects Jonah at first because of their age difference, then Jonah goes missing and Cole feels guilty about the younger man's supposed death. After a year, Cole rescues a malnourished wild horse that smells familiar to him (though he can't say what or whom it reminds him) and we all know who the horse is and can imagine what'll happen.Lovely.

I don't think I've read a horse shifter story before so this was pretty cool. I like that society here is aware of shifters and generally accepts them. My problem with the story was the way Jonah seemed to overcome his ordeal so very quickly and jump into sex with Cole. It wasn't quite believable to me. Billy's crush wasn't necessary to sustain the storyline so I didn't understand why it was part of the story.

  • Jewel

I think this story had potential, especially with the existence of a drug that can lock shifters in their animal form and the fact that shifters seem to be a bit more open and integrated into society. I think a lot could be done with that. However, Finding Release was a miss for me. I found the dialog cheesy and Cole was rather overbearing, trying to make Jonah out to be a damsel in distress. Constantly. And Jonah constantly threatening to run away got tiring. So, meh.

  • Meggie

Lately we are getting a lot of Shape-shifters stories and I can only imagine how hard it is to write a story with an interesting, hooking storyline and well created characters. In general I enjoyed this easily plotted first part, but it was also dull and predictable. I hope the next book will be a better.

  • Will Parkinson

I loved this book. I've got a thing for werewolves, too. I never much thought about other types of shifters, especially the type that seem to not be 'real', like the Horse. After meeting these guys though? Oh yes, please and thank you!

  • Kristy Maitz

How can someone like the main character "Cole" when the same man when asked to help someone else "Jonah" says to him "no". Silvia Violet make stupid mistake from the start. Which led me to turn down the story.
