Lady Scandal is the second book of the incredible Furies series by Wendy LaCapra. Sophia is a strong heroine who I immediately connected with. She's intelligent and tough and so beautifully written, I could feel her emotions. Lord Randolph (*fans self*) has a lot on his capable hands with Sophia, not only with winning her over, but also winning her trust - a feat not easily done with his life so ensnared with that of her father's sordid past. Lady Scandal is a quick-paced, hold-your-breath and s [...]

I really enjoyed the first book and was eagerly awaiting for this one, and I’m happy to report that it didn’t disappoint! The Furies series is fraught with intrigue, scandal, murder and many of the dark sides of Georgian London. In Greek and Roman mythology, the Furies were female spirits of j [...]

Espionage, Spies, murder, intrigue it's all here in this complex and riveting tale filled with deceptions, double crosses, and heart stopping a [...]

Ms. LaCapra’s debut ‘Lady Vice’ had surprised me because it never read as such. Reading it I was reminded of the great Kathleen E. Woodiwiss and her wonderful prose. This doesn’t happen often, so I was looking forward to her second book hoping to God it would live up to my expectations. She not only delivered, but she managed to surprise me!While the first story in the Furies series impressed with a wonderful prose and was equal parts sensually sweet, witty and entertaining, this one was [...]

Rating: 4.5/5The three furies are Lavinia (Lady Vice). Thea (Duchess Decadence) and Shophia (Lady Scandal). Together they run by invitation only, very high class, exclusive gambling parties which only the elite of the elite attend. This has enabled them to siphon men’s coin for may years, making them decidedly rich. The first book in this series was “Lady Vice” and the next will be “Duchess Decadence”. Whilst I believe it helped to have read the earlier novel, I believe this would stil [...]

Another beautiful spy mission with a happy ending!Lady Scandal, written by Wendy LaCapra, wasn't only a romance, it had suspense, secrets, betrayal. Every elements to create a spy mission that involves a beautiful lady! I'm very please with the 2nd story in the Furies series. Lady Scandal is my favorite of her three books. It tells the story of Sophia, who's father had been murdered three years ago, now she is married to Randolf, a spy, and a protégé of her late father. Since, she isn't proud [...]

This is the second book in the Fury Series but the first I have read by this author. This book has it all espionage, murder, mystery, and most of all romance. Once I started this book I couldn't seem to put it down. The author had me on the edge of my seat with each page I read. The heroine, Sophia is a courageous woman who leaves her husband when she finds out he lied to her about and is a spy. She is on the run from her husband and a ruthless killer known as Kasai. She flees for her life not k [...]

I fell in love with Lady Scandal, Sophia when I met her in the previous book Lady Vice. I’d eagerly anticipated Sophia’s book, and now I am dying for Thea’s story. The furies, three bold and scandalous women with intriguing background thumbing their noses at society were brilliantly painted. I loved their vulnerability and strength which were explored with equal depth. Now Sophia story did not disappoint. She was a wonderful character. Intelligent, witty, and proud. She made me really enjo [...]

Just OK for meI absolutely love spy books, historical spy books, that is. This was a little angsty and some misunderstandings but since it’s not a 300 page book it didn't last that long. I like that there’s not just romance in this book, but Sophia was running for her life and Randolph was doing his best to find her, along with the killers that were on the loose, too. I think my favorite part of the book was when they were sitting in her office and Randolph started telling her of his fantasy [...]

I enjoyed this historical romance which had a brave, spunky heroine and a hero not afraid to admit mistakes and change his ways. Lord Randolph served under Lady Sophia's father, a ruthless spy, and after his death has agreed to look after his daughter. The backstory to this book is surprisingly complicated and while I eventually caught on, I would recommend that readers start with the first book in this series. This book has a lot of action and adventure and very steamy romance and I CAN'T WAIT [...]

I would give this book ten stars if I could. I am now a Wendy LaCapra fan for life! Lady Scandal was the sweetest, sexiest, most adventure and intrigue packed historical I have read in a long time. I am an avid historical romance reader and in my experience if it has a complex plot the romance suffers and vice versa, Not so AT ALL with LaCapra's gem. I was moved by the affections of Randolph and Sophia, both for each other and for their circumstances. The plot kept me guessing and the twists and [...]

Lady Scandal, the second book in Wendy LaCapra's Furies series, flowed nicely. In a genre where it is hard to find originality Ms. LaCapra has manage to put a unique spin on what could have been a routine storyline. Romantic espionage at it's best, this work was well put together with a sensual, gripping tale that held me from the first page.*I received this ARC via Netgalley**While part of a series this book can be read as a stand alone*

This is the second book in this series and keeps getting better and better. Sophia is one of the furies, she and her two friends run a scandalous gambling house. One night Sophia takes a bet and finds herself married. When she finds the real reason Hugh married her she takes off and puts herself in danger, can he find her in time? Great Read! I love the characters and the action packed drama an all-around great historical read.

This book was amazing. The plot twists and all the things you think being wrong keep you in the story just to see what will happen next. I was enthralled with this story and hope you take the time to read this thoroughly entertaining, suspenseful, historical romance.

Lady Scandal is a lovely and shining historical romance and I enjoyed reading it. It 's a romantic and passionate story but there is also action, mystery and suspense. It was really exciting, I could not put it down, I wanted to know what would happen next. The father of Sophia Baneham was a diplomat of the East India Company: for too much greed acted dishonestly, as a criminal and became the main enemy of Kasai-the Butcher, who threatened to kill him and his daughter. Her father died shortly aft [...]

This was one of those "romance" novels that had so much more than romance going on that I was caught up from the first chapter and left reading well into the night just to find out what was going to happen next. Although this was the second story in a series, I did not feel completely lost or like I missed something while reading it. I felt that for the most part, the backstories were explained in such a way that I didn't have to read the first novel before reading this one (although I probably [...]

This is book 2 in the Furies series.Sophia Baneham holds gambling parties for some of the most dangerous men in London. No one knows the true reason she does this, not even her two best friends. Accepting a wager from one man who has ever gotten under her skin, she soon finds herself married again. She didn't know that her marriage would turn her life upside down.Lord Randolph made a promise to his mentor, protect his daughter at all costs. I was so ready to start this one and it captured me right away with the conversations going on because of a escape in the planning. Oh the games that will be played with the winnings that are thought to be in the bag. Lady Sophia is used to playing or hosting the games that are played along with her friends. the one time she gambles big time though she is the one who must give all to the winner-Lord Randolph. He though has also played with high stakes that were at hand but both will lose more th [...]

I received this from Netgalley/ Entangled Publishing in exchange for an honest review. This is book two in the authors furies series. I was told that it could be read as a stand alone so I decided to give it a shot because I love historicals. I just did not love it. Lady Scandal was way too much of a push over. For such a strong independent woman she turned into such a ninny. I enjoyed the story but just did not love it. I really wanted her to be a stronger character.

  • Sissy's Romance Book Review

This is a little bit different book than I normally read but I found that I really liked having this book. The heroine, Sophia Baneham has lived in her father shadow and she does things that normal heroine's don't do. I found that I liked her and the hero, Lord Randolph is trying to guild/help his mentors daughter. So that sets off the tone for this great romance book
