I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. (Thank you Dana!) I was thrilled when I received a copy of this book as well as a note from Dana that this book is similar to her Hearts to Follow series which I adored. So I was really excited to read this. Especially since I’ve been looking for a cute sort of romance as of late. Unfortunately, it just didn’t really do it for me. Fiona and I didn’t really click and for a big part of the book; I actually found her to be prett [...]

*I received an ARC from the author of this book in exchange for an honest review.* (Thank you, Dana Burkey)3.5 stars.I really, really liked this book. It was a little different from the books I usually read. Normally I tend to stay away from books which consist both high school and romance. I have nothing against this genre, more like I enjoy them immensely because whenever I think about high school my thoughts are filled with bulky books and classrooms and the time I spent studying and the time [...]

This book started as a short story, but quickly grew to much more! Now, I am excited to share this story with you. It is a contemporary romance for teens and young adults! Follow Fiona as she tried to win Jordan's attention and love by joining her high schools soccer team. This book was fun to write, and I look forward to readers enjoying it as well!

I want to start by thanking Dana Burkey for sending me a free ARC copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. I appreciate the chance to read your work and provide feedback before it is properly released.First of all, this book is about Fiona trying to win over Jordan, her crush who is also her brothers best friend. Going into the book I thought it was going to be just about her either flirting with him and winning him over, or possibly about her ending up falling for someone else in a t [...]

The blurb was promising and I was looking forward to a good first-love story but even though I enjoyed reading this book I expected more. The story is about a girl which is in love since forever with her brothers best friend. Fiona joins the soccer team to make Jordan see her as more than her brothers little sister. If this will be enough to win him over, you have to read the book to find that out. =)It was a nice, cute story but I often didn't really like the main character Fiona. I didn't under [...]

*I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review*Playing for Love is a nice, easy read. Not a lot of epic action, just a teen girl who has a crush on her older brother's friend and desperately wants his attention. I couldn't help but adore Fiona! Fiona originally joins her school's soccer team to catch the attention of Jordan, her brother's friend. This book does seem a bit mundane, but it is definitely enjoyable if you want a YA book to relax you. We follow Fiona through he [...]

Starting off, a huge thank you to Dana Burkey for sending me and ARC of her story. I really enjoyed the whole idea of this book and the story and plot line behind it. It really did an excellent job describing the characters and I felt like I really understood who they were. I would actually think that this book would fall more under the Middle Grade ages instead of YA as the ideas and story were not as complex as a YA book would normally be. For the main character Fiona, I had a hard time pictur [...]

I was fortunate to be sent an ARC of this book by the Author, in exchange of an honest review.Precise Rating: 3.5 Stars. Playing For Love is the story about a girl named Fiona who starts playing football to impress her crush, Jordan. Playing for Love is definitely a cute read! Fiona at first comes across as an immature loud teenager, but then her characters really develops. In the midst of impressing her crush, she found her other love- Football which was amazing to read. First of all I would like to thank the author for sending me a copy. I really enjoyed this book. It's a book about a girl named Fiona who has a big crush on her older brother's best friend Jordan. She begins to play soccer and during a game she gets hit in the face with the ball. After this happens Jordan starts to pay more attention to her and they spend more time together. It was cute and had a happy ending. I'm a big sports fan so the fact that it was about soccer was a huge bonus.

I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.Playing for Love by Dana Burkey is a delightful Young Adult novel. I thought this was going to be a romance based on the title, but it is much more. The story is told through Fiona’s diary entries. Ms. Burkey’s inclusion of the various social media used by teens was brilliant. The reliance on text messages, Twitter, YouTube, and Facebook for communicating with friends was so accurate. Fiona is a typical high school [...]

This review can also be found on my blog: marawashere/2015/I got a copy of this book a few days before official publication for free courtesy of the author in exchange for an honest review.---Playing For Love is a story about Fiona Mealing and her love for her brother's best friend Jordan, and how she's willing enough to do whatever it takes to make him fall in love with her. *I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review"Playing for Love" is the first novel I've read that was written entirely in journal format. It was a nifty idea and it worked well, I suppose. After the first entry I ignored the dates like I would chapter headings. I also have no idea how long it took for Fiona's plan to woo Jordan worked. Which is where we all knew it would go and I'm fine with that. It was set up that way in the first entry and the entire purpose of the journal [...]

If you are, or have ever been, a teenage girlen this book is for you. It is the perfect light-read to snuggle up with this winter. "Playing For Love", by Dana Burkey, is an adorable depiction of what it is like to be a teenage girl trying to get a guy's attention. The teenage girl is Fiona, and this is her story told in a series of journal entries. Fiona is a fun and spunky girl who, just like the rest of us at that age, is trying to get the attention of a specific boy. Jordan has been friends w [...]

    * I received an ARC in exchange for an honest reviewFor years Fiona has had a crush on her older brother's best friend Jordan. Now that Jordan is a senior in high school, Fiona has decided to make her feelings known. After joining the soccer team, because Jordan likes soccer babes, she also changes up her hair and make up. I received this book free for review (and I promised that review ages ago- so sorry!) but that doesn't affect my opinion of the story and all opinions are unbiased and my ownPlaying for Love by Dana Burkey is a novel about fourteen year old Fiona who is absolutely smitten, infatuated with her brothers best friend Jordan and will do anything to get him.She decides to go sporty to try and win his heart, joining her schools junior varsity soccer team (for me and any other Brits, that's U15 football [...]

I was given a copy of this book by the author for an honest review. This book is about Fiona who is pursuing her brothers best friend, as she has liked him for a long time.I like how it was soccer based as I'm from the uk and football as we call it over here is a way of life.Anyway I loved the characters. I especially liked when her brother Ross became closer to fi. The background characters were a great addition. Normally with these books they get together too quick, but found with this one tha [...]

*I received this book in exchange for an honest review.*I gave this book three stars (3.5 to be honest) because the plot of the book was really good, but a little predictable, and to be honest I was just waiting for the moment when Jordan said to Fiona that he liked her. While I really liked reading the book, and I liked the characters and how complex they were, I feel like it was too centered on Fiona, and at first I loved her, but then I just though she was too self-centered, which is the point [...]

I would like to thank you the author for sending me the copy of the book in order to provide an honest review. This romance novel is realistic, down to earth, funny and interesting. It was at times silly but at the same time the character was growing within the story and all in my opinion, all characters are well built according to their roles. There are up's and down's of schoolgirl Fiona's life, mainly her secret huge crush on her brother's best friend for agesFiona is a busy girl as she is als [...]

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.Playing for Love is a nice, easy read. Fiona is a typical sophomore teenage girl trying to get a particular boys attention, which happens to be her older brother's best friend. The book is written as journal entries by Fiona through a period of three months, which happens to be the entire soccer season. If you are not around sophomore high school students, one might begin to think Fiona is a bit obsessive, but this is typical o [...]

Full review at bookplusheart.weebly/conte Playing for Love by Dana Burkey. It is a YA sports contemporary novel. The protagonist female is a high school sophomore. Her tryout for the soccer team, and makes JV. She does it all for a boy. Not, just any boy, but her brother's best friend, Jordan. During one of her first games, Fiona gets hit in the face with the soccer ball and ends up with a broken nose. This situation is the push-that-gets-the-ball-rolling for Fiona to being discovering herself

I would like to thank the author for the copy I received in exchange for an honest review. This book was super cute!!!! I really liked Fiona, as she was not one of those girls with a crush and willing to do anything for his attention. Also, she was not annoying (which I see as quite a feat.) The thing I appreciated the most was the ending, that seemed realist (it actually happened to a friend of mine), and different to the way these books usually turn out.The only flaw I found were some mistakes, [...]

I was absolutely captivated by the musings from Playing from Love. It’s told in a journal format, and at first I thought that would take away from the narrative, but it didn’t at all. In fact, the journal format is what made it unique and intriguing. I also like the selection of character names, they’re unique but common and believable. There are many books I read in which the characters have these outlandish names, but this book isn’t the case. Overall, a great book and I HIGHLY recomme [...]

Fiona has had a crush on her older brother's best friend, and she's decided that this year, her sophomore year in high school, is the year that he's finally going to notice her as more than his friend's little sister. Playing For Love is her story, written in diary entries, of how she puts her plan into play.I really did enjoy the story, but the many editing errors (more issues of the wrong word being used vs typos) keep me from giving it 4-stars. If I overlook the errors, the storyline was fun [...]

Finally after all this time I have finished this amazing book! This has got to be my favorite book my Dana Burkey so far. When reading this book I felt as if Fiona was a younger version of me. The start of sophomore year for me was basically the same as Playing for Love. This was the cutest romance book for any highschool girl. I could honestly see anyone read this book because it was so amazing. Five stars is not enough for this book.; it deserves about ten!!

  • Laura K

I got this book free from the author, and I loved it! The characters felt really real and exciting and I honestly wanted nothing more than to go to school with all of them. Jordan was a perfect guy the reader can fall in love with, and the whole ending with him and Fiona was perfect! Not super predictable, but still something that just made you smile and smile! I think this is my favorite book I have read from Dana Burkey so far!!

  • Brittany Williams

This was a fun read! It's a cute young adult romance novel that focuses on a young girl trying a new route to get her crush. There's some fun characters that you'll definitely start siding with (or against!) and a crush or two of your own that you might develop on some characters. It's a quick read too, so it's great to wind down with after a long day. I would definitely recommend this book!

  • Dana Burkey

I excited to share this book with readers! I am currently in the editing phase, adding some exciting new content. The book is due out on November 1st, but is available for pre-order on as this time!

Dana let me read an ARC copy of the book. I liked the story! I did think the writing was meant for middle age kids and not so much young adult but I very much enjoyed the story line and I think the book and author have tons of potential! Will be reading other books from her.

  • Lynn Hill

A new author for me and I was pleasantly surprised. It is a cute story and easy to read. A nice light hearted story about going from just the sister of my best friend to someone special! I will definitely be reading more of your books Dana!I received an ARC for an honest review!

*I received an ARC of this book from the author Dana Burkey in exchange for an honest review. This book wasting. First off, there were quite a few typos and grammatical errors that continually kept distracting me. So that turned me off a decent amount. Also, the whole premise of the book seemed interesting, except going into the book I was also curious to how Fiona would go about joining the soccer team just for a boy. I figured that done the right way, Fiona changing her life just to get a boy t [...]
